Azalea (Squares)

These pieces are each 22" square, made of beeswax and water soluble wax sticks on birch plywood bases. This particular assembly was in place as Azalea 3 for Somerville Open Studios 2004. The intent behind these squares is that, like a litter of pups, they are born in a clump but then disperse, hopefully in pairs or larger groupings. Over time, they will likely recombine with other such squares, of other series or litters, to form "cousin" juxtapositions - arrangements not of my imagination, but rather of the owner's, or caretaker's, design. Click on any one square (even behind the lady in red) for an enlargement.

Currently on view, in pieces, at Spark Craft Studio.
